Chawton occurs as little village around Hampshire, England, near Alton. Within 2000 it got the people of about 380 & these are administered by East Hampshire District Council.

Jane Austen
Jane Austen lived here by owning her mother & sister, Cassandra, from either 1809 until May 1817, when because of malady she moved to Winchester to be touching her physician. She died there in 18 July 1817.

Austen wrote numbers of of her books around Chawton, & her home is at present the museum.

The Greyfriar
